Description

The forkskull (Hexaceratus bidontotops) is another native of the planet Exodus Vitae.

Exodus Vitae orbits an A-type main sequence star, and is one of the outermost planets in its system. A single year on this planet lasts just over 289 Earth Years, and each day is around 21 Earth Hours.
Unlike Earth's mostly green vegetation, photosynthesizing organisms on Exodus Vitae range from greenish yellow, to yellow, to orange, due to the high-energy sunlight.
A small "Super-Earth", its gravity is about 2,27 times that of Earth. As a result, its native flora and fauna is more limited in size, but is far more diverse and widespread, due to a larger surface area.

A herd-living, armoured herbivore, the forkskull is sexually dimorphic. Males are more colourful and have much longer horns than the females.
In addition to fending off predators, they also use these horns in shoving contests during breeding periods. In combat, these horns fit tightly together like the prongs of a fork, and the two aggressive males push against each other until one of them either can't stand the pain any longer. It is very common for males to break one or two horns during these fights. The horns will grow back, provided the wound doesn't get too badly infected.

In addition to horns, the forkskulls also have a row of spikes covering their flanks. These spikes offer some protection from predators.

Despite only being about the size of a donkey, the forkskull is one of the largest land animals on Exodus Vitae. This is due to to the planet's higher gravity.
