Spore UFO - Sontaran scout ship PNG

As its name suggests, this medium-to-large, spherical spacecraft (also known as a Sontaran battlecruiser or battlesphere) is used by the militaristic Sontaran Empire on reconnaissance missions, scouting a chosen area for a full scale invasion.

Sontaran scout ships appeared in the 1973 Doctor Who serial "The Time Warrior", an episode that was also the very first appearance of the Sontarans.

The design of this particular scout ship is based on the one in the 2008 two-parter "The Sontaran Strategem"/"The Poison Sky".
